Exclusion Criteria & Emergency Red Flags
- Acute chest pain, pressure, or discomfort radiating to arm/jaw
- Shortness of breath at rest, palpitations with dizziness or fainting
- Known unstable angina, recent heart attack, or stroke (within 4 weeks)
- Symptoms of severe hypoglycemia during fasting (tremors, confusion, sweating) – break fast and seek help
If any of these are present, go to the nearest Emergency Department immediately. This test is not a substitute for emergency care.

What does the Heart Screen Test include?
A heart screen tests total cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting glucose, and hs‑CRP to assess cardiac risk. The panel also includes direct LDL and HDL subfractions where clinically indicated. It is performed on a serum sample from an SST tube and plasma from a Grey Top tube after a 12‑hour fast, using advanced immunoturbidimetry and enzymatic methods for superior accuracy.
How should I prepare for the?
For most accurate results, a 12‑hour fast is compulsory; drink only water, no food, caffeine. Avoid smoking and strenuous exercise. If you are taking medication, take it with water unless your doctor advises otherwise. Our phlebotomist will collect 3 mL serum (SST) and 2 mL plasma (Grey Top Sodium Fluoride) at your home. The sample is transported refrigerated under ISO‑certified cold chain.
