The Hemophilia Panel Test is a comprehensive diagnostic examination designed to identify genetic mutations associated with hemophilia, a rare disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly. This condition is primarily inherited and can lead to excessive bleeding from minor injuries, as well as spontaneous bleeding into joints and muscles, posing significant health risks. The test is particularly crucial for families with a history of hemophilia, as it helps in determining the specific type of hemophilia (A, B, or C), which is essential for managing the condition effectively.

Performed at DNA Labs UAE, a leading facility in genetic and molecular diagnostics, the Hemophilia Panel Test involves analyzing the patient’s DNA to look for mutations in the genes responsible for producing clotting factors. These factors are proteins in the blood that control bleeding, and deficiencies or defects in these proteins lead to hemophilia. By identifying the exact mutation, healthcare providers can offer personalized treatment plans, advise on preventive measures, and provide genetic counseling for affected families.

The cost of the Hemophilia Panel Test at DNA Labs UAE is 640 AED. This investment is vital for early detection and management of hemophilia, potentially reducing the risk of severe complications and improving the quality of life for those affected by the condition. Patients or families considering this test are encouraged to consult with their healthcare provider to understand its benefits and implications fully.

HEMOPHILIA PANEL Test

Welcome to DNA Labs UAE, where we offer the HEMOPHILIA PANEL test to diagnose hemophilia, a genetic disorder affecting blood clotting. This specialized blood test measures the levels and activity of specific clotting factors in the blood.

Test Components

  • APTT
  • Factor VIII
  • Factor IX

Price

The cost of the HEMOPHILIA PANEL test is 640.0 AED.

Sample Condition

For this test, we require 3 mL of whole blood in 1 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tube. Please mix the blood thoroughly by inversion and transport it to our lab within 4 hours. If transportation within 4 hours is not possible, please make Platelet Poor Plasma (PPP) within 1 hour of collection using the following steps:

  1. Centrifuge the sample at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes.
  2. Transfer the supernatant to a clean plastic tube.
  3. Centrifuge the supernatant again at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes.
  4. Transfer the supernatant (PPP) to a labeled, clean plastic screw capped vial.
  5. FREEZE IMMEDIATELY. Ship the sample frozen. DO NOT THAW.

Overnight fasting is preferred for this test. Additionally, a duly filled Coagulation Requisition Form (Form 15) is mandatory.

Report Delivery

Sample collection is available on Wednesdays and Saturdays by 9 am, and the report will be delivered on Fridays and Tuesdays.

Method

The HEMOPHILIA PANEL test utilizes photo-optical and electromechanical clot detection methods.

Test Type

The HEMOPHILIA PANEL test falls under the category of Disorders of Coagulation.

Doctor

This test is performed by a Hematologist.

Test Department

This test is conducted in the Coagulation department.

Pre Test Information

For accurate results, it is recommended that patients discontinue Heparin for 1 day and Oral Anticoagulants for 7 days prior to sampling, as these drugs may affect test results. Discontinuation should be done with the prior consent of the treating Physician.

Test Details

The HEMOPHILIA PANEL test is a specialized blood test used to diagnose hemophilia, a genetic disorder that affects the blood’s ability to clot properly. This panel includes several different tests that measure the levels and activity of specific clotting factors in the blood:

  1. Factor VIII assay: Measures the level of factor VIII in the blood. Low levels of factor VIII are characteristic of hemophilia A, the most common type of hemophilia.
  2. Factor IX assay: Measures the level of factor IX in the blood. Low levels of factor IX are characteristic of hemophilia B, a less common type of hemophilia.
  3. Factor XI assay: Measures the level of factor XI in the blood. Low levels of factor XI may indicate a less common type of hemophilia known as hemophilia C.
  4. Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT): Measures the time it takes for blood to clot. Prolonged APTT results may suggest a deficiency in one of the clotting factors involved in the coagulation cascade.
  5. von Willebrand factor assay: Measures the level of von Willebrand factor in the blood. von Willebrand factor helps platelets stick together and is often decreased in individuals with hemophilia.

By measuring these clotting factors and assessing their activity, the HEMOPHILIA PANEL test can help diagnose and differentiate between different types of hemophilia. It is typically ordered when there is suspicion of a bleeding disorder or a family history of hemophilia.
