Test Details
The INTERLEUKIN-6 (IL-6) PLUS PANEL test is a diagnostic tool used to measure the levels of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the blood. IL-6 is a cytokine that plays a crucial role in the immune response and inflammation.
This panel test combines the measurement of IL-6 with other relevant markers to provide a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s immune system and inflammatory status. The IL-6 PLUS PANEL test may include other markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), and other cytokines. These additional markers help to further evaluate the inflammatory response and provide a more detailed analysis of the patient’s condition.
This test is commonly used in the diagnosis and monitoring of various inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and inflammatory bowel disease. It can also be used to assess the severity of infections, such as sepsis, and to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.
The IL-6 PLUS PANEL test is typically performed by collecting a blood sample from the patient, which is then analyzed in a laboratory. The results are usually reported as the concentration of IL-6 and other markers in the blood.
Overall, the IL-6 PLUS PANEL test provides valuable information about the immune system and inflammatory status of the patient, helping healthcare professionals make informed decisions regarding diagnosis and treatment.
