The Factor VIII Functional Activity Test is a specialized blood test performed to measure the activity level of Factor VIII, a critical protein involved in the blood clotting process. This test is crucial for diagnosing and managing conditions related to blood clotting disorders, such as Hemophilia A, where there is a deficiency or dysfunction of Factor VIII. It helps in determining the severity of the disorder and in monitoring the effectiveness of treatments aimed at replacing or supplementing Factor VIII.

At DNA Labs UAE, the Factor VIII Functional Activity Test is available for individuals who require assessment for bleeding disorders or are under treatment for conditions affecting their clotting ability. The test is conducted with precision and care, ensuring reliable results for patients and healthcare providers. The cost of the test at DNA Labs UAE is 420 AED, making it accessible for individuals in need of this critical diagnostic service. The facility employs state-of-the-art technology and adheres to stringent quality controls, ensuring that each test is conducted according to the highest standards of accuracy and reliability.

Test Details: The Factor VIII Functional / Activity Test is a laboratory test used to measure the activity level of Factor VIII in the blood. Factor VIII is a protein that plays a crucial role in the blood clotting process. It helps in the formation of blood clots by interacting with other proteins in the clotting cascade. This test is primarily performed to diagnose and monitor bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia A. Hemophilia A is a genetic disorder characterized by a deficiency or dysfunction of Factor VIII. Individuals with hemophilia A may experience prolonged bleeding, easy bruising, and spontaneous bleeding into joints or muscles. During the Factor VIII Functional / Activity Test, a blood sample is collected from the patient. The sample is then mixed with other substances that activate the clotting process. The time taken for the blood to clot is measured, and the activity level of Factor VIII is calculated based on this clotting time. The results of this test are reported as a percentage of normal Factor VIII activity. A result of 100% indicates normal activity, while lower percentages indicate a deficiency or dysfunction of Factor VIII. The severity of the bleeding disorder can be determined based on the activity level of Factor VIII. This test is often performed alongside other coagulation tests, such as the Factor VIII Antigen Test, which measures the amount of Factor VIII protein in the blood. It is important to note that the Factor VIII Functional / Activity Test is not used to diagnose the specific genetic mutation causing hemophilia A. For that, genetic testing may be necessary.
