Test Details: The YAP1 gene is associated with a rare genetic disorder called Coloboma, ocular, with or without hearing impairment, cleft lip/palate, and/or mental retardation. This disorder is characterized by a missing piece of tissue in the eye (coloboma), hearing loss, and abnormalities of the lip and palate. Mental retardation may also be present in some cases.
NGS genetic testing can be used to detect mutations in the YAP1 gene that may be responsible for this disorder.
