von WILLEBRAND FACTOR ANTIGEN vWF Ag Test
At DNA Labs UAE, we offer the von WILLEBRAND FACTOR ANTIGEN vWF Ag Test to diagnose and monitor von Willebrand disease, a genetic bleeding disorder. This test measures the amount of von Willebrand factor (vWF) in the blood, a protein that plays a crucial role in blood clotting.
Test Details
The vWF Ag test is performed by taking a blood sample from a vein in the arm. The sample is then sent to our laboratory for analysis. Using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique, we measure the amount of vWF in the blood. The results are reported as a percentage of normal vWF levels.
It is important to note that vWF levels can be influenced by various factors, including age, stress, and certain medications. Therefore, our experienced hematologists interpret the results in the context of the patient’s clinical history and symptoms.
Components and Price
The von WILLEBRAND FACTOR ANTIGEN vWF Ag Test is priced at 2340.0 AED. The test requires a sample condition of 3mL whole blood in 1 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tube. The sample should be mixed thoroughly by inversion and transported to our lab within 4 hours. If transportation within 4 hours is not possible, the sample can be processed as plasma within 1 hour of collection. Detailed instructions on sample processing are provided.
Pre Test Information
For accurate results, overnight fasting is preferred before the test. Patients who are taking Heparin should discontinue the medication for 1 day, and those taking Oral Anticoagulants should discontinue them for 7 days prior to sampling, with prior consent from the treating Physician. A duly filled Coagulation Requisition Form (Form 15) is mandatory for the test.
Report Delivery
If the sample is received by 11 am, the report will be delivered on the same day by 6 pm.
Disorders of Coagulation
The von WILLEBRAND FACTOR ANTIGEN vWF Ag Test falls under the category of Disorders of Coagulation. Our experienced hematologists specialize in diagnosing and treating such conditions.

Test Details | The von Willebrand factor antigen (vWF Ag) test is a laboratory test used to measure the amount of von Willebrand factor (vWF) in the blood. vWF is a protein that plays a crucial role in blood clotting by helping platelets stick together and adhere to damaged blood vessels. The vWF Ag test is typically ordered to diagnose and monitor von Willebrand disease, a genetic bleeding disorder characterized by low levels or abnormal function of vWF. It can also be used to assess the severity of the disease and guide treatment decisions. During the test, a blood sample is taken from a vein in the arm and sent to a laboratory for analysis. The amount of vWF in the blood is measured using a technique called enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results are usually reported as a percentage of normal vWF levels. A vWF Ag test may be performed in conjunction with other tests, such as a vWF activity test or a factor VIII clotting activity test, to provide a more comprehensive assessment of von Willebrand disease. It is important to note that vWF levels can be influenced by various factors, including age, stress, and certain medications, so the results should be interpreted in the context of the patient’s clinical history and symptoms. |
