SEPSIS PANEL Test
About the Test
The SEPSIS PANEL test is a diagnostic tool used to assess and diagnose sepsis, a potentially life-threatening condition caused by a severe infection. This test is offered by DNA Labs UAE, a leading genetic laboratory in the UAE.
Test Components
- Procalcitonin
- C-Reactive Protein
- Culture Aerobic Paired Blood Rapid
Test Cost
The cost of the SEPSIS PANEL test is 800.0 AED.
Sample Condition
For the test, a 5 mL (3 mL min.) serum from 1 SST and 8-10 mL blood aseptically each in 2 special Plus Aerobic bottles available from LPL are required. For children less than 12 years old, 2 mL blood each in 2 Special Paeds Plus bottles available from LPL should be collected. The samples should be mixed by gentle swirling and shipped at room temperature. Blood should be collected from 2 different sites.
Report Delivery
The sample is collected daily by 3.30 pm. The interim report is delivered within 24 and 48 hours, while the final report is delivered within 6 days.
Method
The SEPSIS PANEL test utilizes ECLIA, Immunoturbidimetry, and Rapid Automated Aerobic culture methods for accurate results.
Test Type
The SEPSIS PANEL test is specifically designed to detect infections in patients.
Physician
The SEPSIS PANEL test is ordered and interpreted by a qualified physician.
Test Department
The SEPSIS PANEL test is conducted in the Test Department of DNA Labs UAE.
Pre Test Information
No special preparation is required for the SEPSIS PANEL test.
Test Details
The SEPSIS PANEL test is a comprehensive diagnostic tool that evaluates various aspects of the patient’s immune response and organ function. The test includes several components:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC): Measures the levels of red and white blood cells, as well as platelets, in the patient’s blood. Abnormalities in these cell counts can indicate an infection or inflammation.
- Blood Culture: Involves taking a sample of the patient’s blood and culturing it in a laboratory to identify any bacteria or fungi causing the infection.
- Procalcitonin (PCT) Level: Measures the levels of procalcitonin, a protein released into the bloodstream in response to a bacterial infection. Elevated levels can indicate the presence of sepsis.
- C-Reactive Protein (CRP) Level: Measures the levels of C-reactive protein, produced by the liver in response to inflammation. Elevated levels can indicate an infection or inflammation.
- Lactate Level: Measures the levels of lactate, a byproduct of cellular metabolism. Elevated levels can indicate tissue hypoxia, which is common in sepsis.
- Coagulation Profile: Evaluates the patient’s blood clotting ability and identifies any abnormalities present in sepsis.
The results of the SEPSIS PANEL test are interpreted by healthcare professionals who consider the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and other diagnostic tests to make a final diagnosis. Early detection and treatment of sepsis are crucial for improving patient outcomes, making the SEPSIS PANEL test an essential tool in managing this condition.

The SEPSIS PANEL test is a diagnostic tool used to assess and diagnose sepsis, a potentially life-threatening condition caused by a severe infection. The test typically includes several components that evaluate various aspects of the patient’s immune response and organ function. The specific components of the SEPSIS PANEL test may vary depending on the laboratory or healthcare facility conducting the test. However, common components may include: 1. Complete Blood Count (CBC): This test measures the levels of red and white blood cells, as well as platelets, in the patient’s blood. Abnormalities in these cell counts can indicate an infection or inflammation. 2. Blood Culture: This test involves taking a sample of the patient’s blood and culturing it in a laboratory to identify any bacteria or fungi that may be causing the infection. 3. Procalcitonin (PCT) Level: Procalcitonin is a protein that is released into the bloodstream in response to a bacterial infection. Elevated levels of PCT can indicate the presence of sepsis. 4. C-reactive Protein (CRP) Level: CRP is another protein that is produced by the liver in response to inflammation. Elevated CRP levels can indicate an infection or inflammation. 5. Lactate Level: Lactate is a byproduct of cellular metabolism, and elevated levels in the blood can indicate tissue hypoxia, which is common in sepsis. 6. Coagulation Profile: This test evaluates the patient’s blood clotting ability and can help identify any abnormalities that may be present in sepsis. The results of the SEPSIS PANEL test are typically interpreted by healthcare professionals, who will consider the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and other diagnostic tests to make a final diagnosis. Early detection and treatment of sepsis are crucial for improving patient outcomes, so the SEPSIS PANEL test plays a vital role in the management of this condition. |
