The N. Meningitis RNA Detection Qualitative Test is a specialized diagnostic procedure aimed at identifying the presence of Neisseria meningitidis, the bacterium responsible for causing meningococcal meningitis. This test utilizes advanced RNA detection techniques to qualitatively assess the presence of the bacterium’s genetic material, offering a highly sensitive and specific means of diagnosis. The qualitative nature of the test means that it indicates whether the RNA is present or not, rather than quantifying the amount of RNA.

Performed at DNA Labs UAE, a reputable facility known for its state-of-the-art diagnostic services, the test ensures accurate and reliable results. The cost of the test is set at 1160 AED, reflecting the sophisticated technology and expertise involved in conducting the analysis. This test is crucial for the timely diagnosis of meningococcal meningitis, which is essential for the prompt treatment and management of the disease, potentially saving lives and preventing severe complications.

N. Meningitis RNA Detection Qualitative Test

At DNA Labs UAE, we offer the N. Meningitis RNA Detection Qualitative Test for AED 1160.0. This test is used to detect the presence of Neisseria meningitidis, a bacterium that can cause meningitis.

Test Details

The N. Meningitis RNA Detection Qualitative Test specifically detects the RNA (ribonucleic acid) of the bacterium. It is a viral test performed using Real Time PCR method in our Genetics department. The test is usually performed on samples such as blood, nasopharyngeal secretions, nasopharyngeal swabs, C.S.F, bronchial swabs, bronchial lavage, etc.

Pre Test Information

Prior to the test, patients are required to sign a consent document and bring any clinical history related to N. Meningitis. This helps in ensuring accurate results and appropriate treatment.

Test Process

The N. Meningitis RNA Detection Qualitative Test is performed on a sample of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which is collected through a lumbar puncture procedure. CSF is the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord and is often affected in cases of meningitis.

The test uses a technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to amplify and detect specific RNA sequences from N. meningitidis. PCR is a sensitive and specific method that can detect even small amounts of the bacterium’s RNA in the CSF sample.

The CSF sample is processed, and the RNA is extracted. Then, specific primers and probes are used to target and amplify the N. meningitidis RNA if present. This amplification allows for easier detection of the bacterium.

Result Delivery

Once the test is performed, the report will be delivered via email within 3 working days. In case of urgency, the report can be delivered on the phone within 24 hours.

Interpreting the Results

If the test result is positive, it indicates the presence of N. meningitidis RNA in the CSF sample, suggesting an active infection with the bacterium. A positive result would typically prompt further evaluation and treatment for meningitis.

It’s important to note that the N. Meningitis RNA Detection Qualitative Test is a qualitative test, meaning it only provides a yes/no answer regarding the presence of N. meningitidis RNA. It does not provide information about the quantity of the bacterium or its antibiotic sensitivity. Additional tests may be required to determine these factors and guide appropriate treatment.
