Test Details
The Hepatitis B Monitoring Panel Test is a blood test that measures various markers related to Hepatitis B infection. It is used to monitor the progression and treatment of Hepatitis B in individuals who have been diagnosed with the infection.
The test typically includes the following markers:
- Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg): This marker indicates whether a person is currently infected with the Hepatitis B virus.
- Hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs): This marker indicates whether a person has developed immunity to Hepatitis B through previous infection or vaccination.
- Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg): This marker indicates active viral replication and high infectivity.
- Hepatitis B e antibody (anti-HBe): This marker indicates a decrease in viral replication and reduced infectivity.
- Hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc): This marker indicates previous or ongoing Hepatitis B infection.
By monitoring these markers over time, healthcare providers can assess the progression of Hepatitis B, determine the effectiveness of treatment, and make decisions regarding further management of the infection.
