Dialysis SARS-COV-2 SCREENING PROFILE Test

At DNA Labs UAE, we offer the Dialysis SARS-COV-2 SCREENING PROFILE Test to detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in patients undergoing dialysis. This test is specifically designed for individuals receiving dialysis treatment, as they may be at higher risk of contracting and spreading the virus due to their frequent contact with healthcare professionals and other patients in the dialysis center.

The Dialysis SARS-COV-2 SCREENING PROFILE Test includes the following components:

  • Sars-Cov-2 RT-PCR
  • HBsAg
  • HIV 1 & 2 Antibodies Screening test
  • KFT
  • Iron studies
  • CBC
  • NLR
  • CRP

The cost of the test is 1400.0 AED.

To perform the test, we require a 4 mL (3 mL min.) serum sample from 1 SST, 3 mL (2 mL min.) whole blood sample from 1 Lavender Top (EDTA) tube, and nasopharyngeal & oropharyngeal swabs in a special Viral transport medium (VTM) available from LPL. The samples should be shipped refrigerated and should not be frozen. Overnight fasting and sampling before 12 noon is preferred. Iron supplements should be avoided for a minimum of 24 hours prior to specimen collection. Additionally, the Covid-19 Clinical Information Form (Form 44) / SRF ID mandated by GOI should be duly filled.

The report for the Dialysis SARS-COV-2 SCREENING PROFILE Test is delivered daily by 11 am, with a turnaround time of 2 days. The test is conducted using Real Time RT-PCR, Electrical Impedence, VCS, Spectrophotometry, Indirect ISE, CLIA, Calculated, and Immunoturbidimetry methods.

This test falls under the category of Infectious Diseases and is recommended by Nephrologists. For any pre-test information, it is advised to undergo overnight fasting and sampling before 12 noon. Iron supplements should be avoided for a minimum of 24 hours prior to specimen collection. The Consent form for HIV testing & Pre-test counseling (Form 10 & 10A) is mandatory.

The Dialysis SARS-CoV-2 screening profile test is crucial in identifying asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic individuals who may be unknowingly carrying the virus. By detecting infected individuals early, appropriate measures can be taken to prevent further transmission within the dialysis center and protect vulnerable patients. However, it is important to note that this test is not a substitute for other preventive measures such as wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and maintaining good hand hygiene. These measures should still be followed even if a patient tests negative for the virus.

The Dialysis SARS-CoV-2 screening profile test plays a crucial role in monitoring and controlling the spread of the virus within dialysis centers, helping to protect both patients and healthcare professionals.
