Sample Condition:
To conduct the test, please submit a pure growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex on appropriate media in a sterile screw-capped container. Make sure to seal it in a plastic bag and ship it refrigerated. If you have already submitted specimens for AFB culture or Mycobacteria identification tests, the pure growth obtained in the laboratory will be processed for Antitubercular Sensitivity.
Report Delivery:
The report will be delivered within 21 days, with samples collected daily by 3.30 pm.
Method:
The CULTURED AFB ANTITUBERCULAR DST RAPID 16 DRUGS PANEL test is performed using an automated fluorescent method.
Test Type:
This test is specifically designed for diagnosing tuberculosis.

Test Details:
The CULTURED AFB ANTITUBERCULAR DST RAPID 16 DRUGS PANEL test is a diagnostic tool used to determine the susceptibility of the bacteria causing tuberculosis (TB) to different drugs. TB is a bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body.
The test involves culturing the bacteria obtained from a patient’s sputum or other body fluids in a laboratory setting. Once the bacteria have grown, they are exposed to a panel of 16 different drugs commonly used to treat TB, including isoniazid, rifampin, ethambutol, and streptomycin, among others.
The purpose of this test is to identify which drugs the bacteria are susceptible to and which drugs they have developed resistance against. This information is crucial for determining the most effective treatment regimen for the patient, as drug-resistant TB can be more challenging to treat and may require the use of second-line drugs or longer treatment durations.
Overall, the CULTURED AFB ANTITUBERCULAR DST RAPID 16 DRUGS PANEL test helps guide clinicians in selecting the most appropriate and effective drugs for treating TB, improving patient outcomes, and reducing the spread of drug-resistant strains of the bacteria.
