Sample Condition
2 mL (0.5 mL min.) serum from 1 Red Top (No Additive) tube for each timed specimen. Do not use SST gel barrier tubes. All containers must be clearly marked with time drawn and submitted with 1 test request form. Draw overnight fasting baseline specimen. With patient supine, administer Calcium Gluconate IV 2 mg/kg body weight over 1 min. followed by Pentagastrin IV bolus 0.5 ug/kg body weight over 5 sec. Draw additional specimens at 1, 2, 5 and 10 min. Ship frozen. DO NOT THAW.
