CULTURED AFB ANTITUBERCULAR DST PAS Test
At DNA Labs UAE, we offer the CULTURED AFB ANTITUBERCULAR DST PAS test at a cost of 660.0 AED.
Test Components
- Price: 660.0 AED
Sample Condition
To perform the test, please submit a pure growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex on appropriate media in a sterile screw capped container. The container should be sealed in a plastic bag and shipped refrigerated. Alternatively, if you have already submitted specimens for other AFB culture or Mycobacteria identification tests, the pure growth obtained in our laboratory will be processed for Antitubercular Sensitivity.
Report Delivery
Sample should be submitted daily by 3.30 pm. The test report will be delivered within 21 days.
Method
The CULTURED AFB ANTITUBERCULAR DST PAS test is conducted using automated fluorescent technology.
Test Type
The test is specifically designed to detect tuberculosis.
Doctor
This test can be ordered by a physician.
Test Department
This test is conducted in our Test Department.
Pre Test Information
No special preparation is required before taking this test.
Test Details
The CULTURED AFB ANTITUBERCULAR DST PAS test is a laboratory test used to determine the susceptibility of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to the drug para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS). PAS is an antibiotic used in the treatment of tuberculosis, especially in cases where the bacteria have developed resistance to other first-line drugs.
The test involves growing a culture of the bacteria in the presence of different concentrations of PAS. The growth of the bacteria is observed, and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of PAS required to prevent bacterial growth is determined.
The results of this test help guide the selection of appropriate antibiotic treatment for tuberculosis patients. If the bacteria are susceptible to PAS, it can be included in the treatment regimen. However, if the bacteria are resistant to PAS, alternative drugs must be used.
It is important to note that the CULTURED AFB ANTITUBERCULAR DST PAS test is just one of several tests used to determine the drug susceptibility of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Multiple drug susceptibility testing is typically performed to guide the selection of the most effective and appropriate treatment for tuberculosis.
