METANEPHRINES FRACTIONATED RANDOM URINE Test
At DNA Labs UAE, we offer the METANEPHRINES FRACTIONATED RANDOM URINE Test to measure the levels of metanephrines in a random urine sample. Metanephrines are breakdown products of the hormones adrenaline and noradrenaline, which are produced by the adrenal glands.
Test Details
The METANEPHRINES FRACTIONATED RANDOM URINE Test is primarily used to help diagnose and monitor certain conditions related to the adrenal glands, such as pheochromocytoma. This rare tumor produces excessive amounts of adrenaline and noradrenaline. Elevated levels of metanephrines in the urine may indicate the presence of this tumor.
The test involves collecting a random urine sample, which can be done at any time of the day. The sample is then sent to our laboratory for analysis using the HPLC-EC method. Our experienced team of oncologists will measure the levels of metanephrines in the urine and provide a detailed report.
Sample Condition
The METANEPHRINES FRACTIONATED RANDOM URINE Test requires a 50 mL (10 mL min.) aliquot of random urine. To ensure accurate results, it is important to add 50% HCl drop by drop to bring the pH between 1-2. Please note that concentrated HCl should not be used. The sample should be shipped refrigerated or frozen.
Prior to specimen collection, patients should strictly avoid Alpha-Methyldopa, Buspirone, Codeine, Isoproterenol metabolite, Mandelamine, L-dopa, Paracetamol, Metoclopramide, pepper, alcoholic beverages, tea/coffee, tobacco, and strenuous exercise for at least 72 hours. This will help prevent any interference with the test results.
Report Delivery
Sample collection for the METANEPHRINES FRACTIONATED RANDOM URINE Test is available on Wednesdays and Saturdays by 9 am, and the report will be delivered on Fridays or Tuesdays.
Pre Test Information
